Your doctor saidthe swelling is normal. They're right. But this can help.
Pregnancy swelling is common — but that doesn't mean you have to just endure it. Here's what's really happening in your body, and what actually makes a difference.

If you're pregnant and struggling with swollen feet, heavy legs, or hands so puffy your rings won't come off — your doctor probably told you it's normal. And they're right. Swelling during pregnancy is one of the most common discomforts there is.
But here's what they may not have told you: there's a difference between something being normal and something you just have to endure. Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage was designed specifically to address this — safely, gently, and with results most clients feel during their very first session.

What's actually happeninginside your body.
During pregnancy, your blood volume increases by up to 50%. Your body is producing extra fluid to cushion the baby, support the placenta, and prepare for labor. This process is completely necessary — and completely normal.
But here's the part that matters: your lymphatic system — the network responsible for draining that excess fluid out of your tissues — has no pump of its own. Unlike your heart, it relies entirely on movement and muscle contraction to keep flowing. As your pregnancy progresses, movement becomes harder. The growing uterus puts pressure on lymphatic vessels in the lower body. Flow slows. Fluid accumulates.
The result? Swollen ankles that hurt to walk on. Hands so puffy your rings don't fit. Legs that feel like they weigh twice as much by afternoon. Exhaustion that sleep alone can't fix.

Why "just wait it out"isn't the only answer.
Most healthcare providers are excellent at monitoring the health of you and your baby. But they don't always have time — or training — to discuss what you can actually do about day-to-day discomfort beyond "elevate your legs and drink water."
Elevating your legs helps. Hydration helps. But they work on the symptom — not the system. When you put your feet up, gravity assists the fluid down. But the moment you stand up again, it starts accumulating right back. Because the underlying issue — a lymphatic system that's overwhelmed and needs activation — hasn't been addressed.
What prenatal lymphaticdrainage actually does.
Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage is a specialized manual therapy that uses extremely gentle, rhythmic pressure to activate the lymphatic vessels and guide excess fluid toward elimination. It is not a relaxation massage, and it is not deep tissue work. Every movement is deliberate, adapted to your trimester, and focused on one goal: moving the fluid that your lymphatic system can't move on its own.

Here's what happens in a session — and why it works differently from anything else:

Is it safe duringpregnancy?
This is the question we hear most — and it deserves a direct answer. Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage, performed by a trained specialist using pregnancy-specific protocols, is completely safe from the second trimester onward.

We always recommend letting your OB or midwife know you're starting sessions — and we're happy to answer any questions they may have about our approach.
Common questionsfrom expecting moms.
When can I start?
From the beginning of the second trimester (week 13). We recommend waiting until the first trimester is complete, as this is when the most significant fetal development occurs. Monthly sessions in the second trimester, moving to weekly in the third, is the most effective schedule.
How long is a session?
Our Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage sessions are 1 hour and 20 minutes — giving adequate time to address the legs, feet, arms, back, and face without rushing any area.
How soon will I feel results?
Most clients notice a difference during their first session. Swelling is measurably reduced, and the sensation of heaviness in the legs shifts noticeably. Results are cumulative — regular sessions produce increasingly sustained relief.
What about after delivery?
Postpartum Lymphatic Drainage is equally important. Your body still needs to process and eliminate the extra fluid it accumulated during pregnancy — and if you had a C-section, drainage also supports incision healing. We recommend your first postpartum session within the first two weeks.
How much does it cost?
Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage at Brazilian Beauty Spa is $159 per session. We also offer packages for clients who want to schedule regular sessions throughout their pregnancy.
